Dr. iur. Alain Bai
Alain Bai completed his studies at the University of Basel. His doctoral dissertation, published in 2022 under the title “Legal Protection in the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) in Tax Matters”, was awarded the highest distinction, summa cum laude, by the Faculty of Law at the University of Basel. In 2023, it was further honored with the Swiss Walter Hug Prize. Since June 2023, he has been licensed as an attorney-at-law. Before joining our firm, Alain Bai worked for several years as a research assistant at the University of Basel, contributing to legal opinions and publications in the fields of European and International Law, as well as Constitutional and Administrative Law. He continues to publish relevant contributions in legal journals. His internships were completed at the Swiss Federal Office of Justice in Bern, the Civil Court of the Basel-Landschaft West District, and our law firm. Alain Bai primarily advises and represents clients in matters of public procedural and administrative law, particularly in the areas of tax and financial law, national and international mutual legal assistance, public procurement and subsidy law, building and planning law, as well as commercial, labor, and tenancy law. In addition, he is active as an expert and provides legal counsel to both businesses and individuals in cross-border and international matters. Alongside his legal practice, Alain Bai has been serving as a municipal councilor for the town of Muttenz (Department of Finance and Taxes) since 2016. Since 2022, he has also been a member of the Parliament of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft (Landrat).
